We’ve all seen the damage this control can do – through centralized government, finance, media. One day a certain currency, stock, nation is up. Something to put your trust in. The next it is down. The spin cycle never changes. It only speeds up.

Decentralization and crypto were supposed to be the solution – shining light on the puppet masters and their narratives – but we are watching in real time as web 3.0 gets caught in the spin.

The media narrative says that crypto is nothing but a money laundering exercise for criminals. At the same time, the pillars of centralized power – government, finance, media, are starting to move into the crypto space. Even as they attack web 3.0, old methods of control – micro-narratives of finger pointing, blame and hype, boom and bust – drag it into the same old spin cycle. And so drag the future into the past.

Only one thing is certain. As innovation and freedom works to wash out the old, then centralized power will fight for the status quo. We humans are herd animals – we look to someone to lead the way. And those who have mastered the arts of spin, fear, and replication of control will try to lead decentralization. At the end of the cycle, the new way of doing things might not look that much different to the old.

But for now, in an unprecedented way, the power rests with the individual. The cycle is not yet finished, and a once-in-a generation chance for single voices to be the most precious currency of all is here. The spin continues forever. The rest is up to you.
